Will Manor Lords receive a coop or multiplayer update?

The thing with great games is that we want to show off our skills to other people. Will Manor Lords support coop or multiplayer games anytime soon?

What you'll read in this post:

RTS games are a great type of game for multiplayer sessions. Kicking each others butts on the battlefield can be a lot of fun.

City builders can be lot of fun too, in a different way. In those types of games, it's more often a case of developing faster, trading better and reaching higher.

That being said, Manor Lords is more of a city builder than an RTS game. With the city building challenges and the RTS warfare element combined though, it's not hard to imagine a lot of people are wondering whether the game will receive cooperative gameplay or even multiplayer mode anytime soon.

That's a no from Hooded Horse

In the official Manor Lords Discord channel, hundreds of messages -questions and answers alike- are posted hourly. As for the Steam discussion forum, there are 1914 active threads in the Manor Lords page.

In the Manor Lords Early Access F.A.Q. thread, Matt from Hooded Horse answers the question Is there a multiplayer or cooperative gameplay mode in Manor Lords with the following answer:

The focus is on a refined single-player experience, with no multiplayer or cooperative modes planned at the moment.

A neatly packaged 'no'.

Over on Discord, the Hooded Horse-mods and Greg were working overtime trying to respond to all questions, so they created a common issues and questions document.

One of the questions is of course Will there be a multiplayer game mode. Good question, disappointing answer though.

"Not anytime soon, if at all - please stop asking."

That's an answer clear as day. No two ways about it.

Will there be multiplayer in the future?

What will the future hold for Manor Lords multiplayer? It's hard to say. Judging by the "if at all" part from the HH-mods, you might not want to hold your breath.

Not hard to see the fun factor and challenge in it though. So who knows, sometime in the far future we can expect a multiplayer mode to be added to the game.

Until then, I'll just start another round of single player and focus on getting my sheep economy up and running 🐑
